Meet Carolynn – The Fairy Boss Behind the Wand

Where the Magic Really Began…

Before she ever picked up a paintbrush or tied a balloon animal, Carolynn was just a sparkly little four-year-old with stars in her eyes and fairy dust in her heart. One visit to a whimsical Fairy Cottage in Brisban, QLD was all it took—she was hooked on fairies, miniature worlds, and everything that glittered.

Fast forward to 2002: Book Week had arrived, and when asked what she wanted to be, the answer was obvious—a fairy, of course! With her wonderfully creative mum Meredith working her magic, a pink petal skirt, a flower crown, and a wand were lovingly handcrafted… and poof! a fairy was born.

That one costume stitched with love didn’t just win Book Week—it planted the seed for a business. A few months later, when a family friend needed a party host, 12-year-old Carolynn grabbed her wand and jumped in to run games and craft time. The kids loved it, the parents raved, and the phone started ringing.

Fairy Fantasy Parties officially fluttered to life—and thanks to a sweet local newspaper article about a pint-sized party professional, the calls didn’t stop. Thus was born the now-iconic tagline:
“We bring the magic to you.”

Since then, Carolynn and her team has enchanted her way through over 10,000 parties (yes, really), building a business full of sparkle, joy, and laughter—all while juggling her studies for a Diploma of Children’s Services and later her Bachelor Degree in Primary Education. She’s not just a fairy; she’s a qualified educator with a talent for getting kids of all personalities involved and having fun. Her parties aren’t just entertainment—they’re expertly run, all-inclusive group adventures.

With 23 years of entertainment experience, Carolynn specialises in:
- Fast & fabulous face painting
- Balloon twisting wizardry
- Magical tricks that delight
- Character hosts who run the whole show—games, craft, activities, and more!

These days, Fairy Fantasy Parties is based in Wollongong but still brings the magic to Macarthur and anywhere within a 45-minute fairy-flight radius.

The team has grown and shrunk (thanks, COVID!) but remains full of heart—and talent!

Fun Facts

Carolynn is Canadian Born- and one of four siblings, —and yes, every single one of them has been roped into the world of kids' entertainment at some point! What started as Carolynn’s passion quickly became a bit of a family affair, with each sibling bringing their own unique flair to the stage (or backyard party).

From magic tricks to fairy wings, the entire crew has played a part in spreading joy, laughter, and a little bit of chaos—the fun kind, of course. It's safe to say that entertaining is in their DNA!

With decades of experience, a passionate team, and a whole lot of glitter, Fairy Fantasy Parties continues to delight kids and grown-ups alike—one magical moment at a time.

A family thing-

Carolynn’s sister Andrea (aka Fairy Rosa) is a party pro too when she started a DISCO PARTY business with her bestie as a teen- and later co-founded Vintage Curls & Twirls, fondly known as The Fairy Shop of Macarthur Square and Narellan. Andrea is also a talented photographer who took many of the beautiful photos at her early events, and the Fairy Fantasy Parties Team over the years.

And if that wasn’t enough family flair—their ‘little’ (but TALL) brother is a real-life magician: Shaun Michael Magic. Yep, there’s a lot of sparkle in this family.

A special thank you to Meredith—Carolynn’s mum, the original magic and memory maker. She modelled what genuine service, kindness, and attention to detail should look like—teaching that even a momentary first impression can leave a lasting impact. From heartfelt fundraising to year-round acts of giving, Meredith infused everyday life with the spirit of Christmas and the joy of birthdays. She didn’t just raise a fairy—she showed her how to be one.

You might also know their family home as “The Halloween House”—a local favourite in Narellan, NSW! With a love for performing, dressing up, and creating immersive experiences, this Canadian-born family couldn’t resist bringing the magic of Halloween to their community. What started as a bit of festive fun quickly became an annual tradition, complete with themed displays and characters plus loads of laughter for the neighbourhood trick-or-treaters. Theme’s we’ve enjoyed over the years for Halloween - Peter Pan, Toy Story , Harry Potter, Jurassic Park.

Other fun things

In one unforgettable wish-granting moment, Carolynn quite literally took flight—dressed as a fairy on a Qantas plane—to help make a dream come true for a very sick little girl in Queensland. Teaming up with Dream Kicks and Lil’ Fairy Door, she brought magic to the skies and joy to a little heart, proving that no distance is too far when it comes to creating truly meaningful memories.

Fairy Fantasy Parties has had its fair share of magical media moments! Their characters have appeared live in action on The TODAY Show and The Morning Show, bringing sparkle and smiles to screens across the country, mostly covering the Volunteer events at the Hospitals and fundraisers.

Carolynn and Andrea—the Fairy Sisters—had a memorable cameo on Shark Tank Australia, sprinkling sparkle and charm across prime time… even if mostly from the background alongside Lil Fairy Door! Ha ha! They’ve also appeared in several newspapers, spreading the word (and plenty of glitter) about the joyful magic they bring to the community.
